COPENHAGEN, Denmark — Police made the largest-ever cocaine seizure in Norway after they found 800 kilograms (1,760 kilos) of the drug in containers of fruit in Oslo, officers stated.
Norwegian information company NTB stated late Thursday that the medicine have been discovered this week following a tipoff from German police who seized 1,200 kilograms (2,645 kilos) in Potsdam on Tuesday.
Police didn’t disclose the precise date that the cocaine was present in Oslo, or the place the fruit originated from. Nobody has been arrested in Norway.
Police spokeswoman Grete Lien Metlid was quoted by NTB as saying that it was the biggest seizure ever in Norway. She stated that it was too early to say whether or not the cocaine was supposed for the Norwegian market, or if Norway was getting used as a transit level.
“We can not rule out that there are bigger networks with connections to Norway,” Lien Metlid informed NTB.
The earlier largest seizures of cocaine in Norway was in 2013 when 153 kilograms (337 kilos), have been seized, and in 2013 when 145 kilograms (319 kilos) of cocaine have been hidden in banana containers, the information company stated.
